September 14 Update: Whispers of the Muse

Hi Everybody,

Welcome to this weeks update at Whispers of the Muse, http://www.whispersofthemuse.org/

We're back up to speed this week with 9 NEW pieces and another addition to Jessie's Crowe Tarot Card Gallery! We're still working out the kinks and details for our NEW Blogging Format to replace the Must Playground Yuku board but hope to have it up and running very soon.

For now, on to the update!

The Bad Ass Bud White is back in Crowe FanFiction Longs. NEW "Havana, 1958" pt. 3. Bud sees a little of the seedy side of Havana and battles to keep certain ideas about Cuba out of his mind.

Also in Crowe FanFiction Longs, Dominic Maloney returns this week with an all NEW "Time of the Season" pt. 13 by Jessie. Dominic's body has returned home to Australia and his family … but has he left his heart in New York and soul in Vietnam?

Ben Wade moves ahead in Another Take this week in the all NEW "Cashing Out" pt. 3 by Riley. As Ben and Jim move toward selling their find, Serena is desperate to get away from her mother. Will both Ben and Serena get what they want?

And Cort is back in Another Take with the NEW "Reluctant Outlaws" pt. 6 by Riley. Many things are developing in the David Wayne Cortland murder case, but among Lulu and Katherine's biggest concerns is the fact that Cort is losing faith in winning.

The 1876 Manor Chronicles is back with a new story arc! Check out the NEW "Timing is Everything", pt. 1 by the Chronicles Collaborative (Natalie, Jessie, Meredith and Riley). Rain pummels Vermont the whole week after the wedding, but life goes on. Hey everyone, Nat and I are off to see Russ live on Leno next week! We promise any stories if they arise. As for the update, this week we have six NEW pieces and another addition to Jessie's Crowe Tarot Card Gallery. Let's get on to it!

The Bad Ass Bud White is back in Crowe FanFiction Longs. NEW "Havana, 1958" pt. 5. As Bud struggles with what he's learned of the pending Cuban uprising, elements of the revolution are striking closer to his own heart than he could ever guess.

Ben Wade moves ahead in Another Take this week in the all NEW "Cashing Out" pt. 5 by Riley. While Serena deciphers the real danger of her strange new environment, Ben Wade is praying for her recovery in the twenty-first century.

And Cort is back in Another Take with the NEW "Reluctant Outlaws" pt. 8 by Riley. It's do or die for Cort and Katherine Thorne is combining prayer, Terry's expertise and her heart to make the case of a lifetime and assure that David Cortland does not spend the rest of his days in prison.

The 1876 Manor Chronicles continues! Check out the NEW "Timing is Everything", pt. 3 by the Chronicles Collaborative (Natalie, Jessie, Meredith and Riley). John Biebe needs to make a little visit to a wayward brother, none other than Colin; Kim makes the ultimate bad decision and Emily will suffer while Riley plans to tighten the screws; Daisy discovers that her new friend isn't quite among the living and needs her help; Richie offers Daisy a suggestion but passes on assisting her; Antony and Claudia heat up the sheets; and Ben is trying to figure out this sheriffing stuff.

In The Fly on the Wall Sidebars the all NEW "The Devil to Pay" pt. 7 by Natalie will return next week. You won't want to miss where this story is going!

In Literary Longs, the all NEW novel "Spellcheck" chapter 13 by Skip and Riley will also return next week. Unfortunate computer issues have put a brief hold on this adventure but we guarantee an entertaining final two chapters!

Jackie's Literary Long continues with the NEW "Meant to Be" chapter 17. It's time to face the media and Taz isn't sure she's ready for such things. Quent has a few concerns in mind as well, but together they just may conquer all!

And in the Literary Longs section this week, "Whom the Gods Destroy" continues with the next NEW chapter, October 13, 1996 by Michael McLean. Meg brings Ellen Lopez's family to the hospital. Meg, Jesse and Jem work on sorting out clues.

October 19 Update: Whispers of the Muse

Welcome to this weeks update at Whispers of the Muse, http://www.whispersofthemuse.org/

This week we have a tremendous update for you! Ten NEW pieces including the finales of two Literary Longs and a shocking Jack Aubrey Sidebar that's sure to bring tears! And the 1876 Manor Chronicles is exploring some new ground you don't want to miss.

On to the update …

The Bad Ass Bud White is back in Crowe FanFiction Longs. NEW "Havana, 1958" pt. 7 by Riley. No matter how hard he tries, Bud can't seem to get Letti out of Cuba, but it's not his only dilemma. Bud White has no clue how to be a husband nor how to approach the sad woman he now calls wife.

In the Crowe Fanfiction section, Marie brings a NEW installment of her SID "Come to Me" series with "A Place Known, but Unknown". In this fourth part of this terrific series; Bud White of the LAPD is the one to rescue Ashley after yet another escape. The delights of being with him and seeing her home town over fifty years ago is wonderful, but it won't last long.

Ben Wade moves ahead in Another Take this week in the all NEW "Cashing Out" pt. 7 by Riley. Twenty-first century Serena fights for her life as Ben panics, impotent and afraid. But in Ben's time, Serena is fighting for other peoples' lives and Ben is right at her side.

And Richie Roberts is back in Another Take with the NEW "Counsel for the Defense" pt. 10 by Riley. Finally Clair is joining him, but Richie has a lot on his mind regarding his case against the FBI. Needless to say, the new little twist dropped in his lap can only make things more complicated.

The 1876 Manor Chronicles continues with some exciting developments! Check out the NEW "Timing is Everything", pt. 5 by the Chronicles Collaborative (Natalie, Jessie, Meredith and Riley). Agent Cooper gets settled in for his long investigation; John brings Gerry Kennedy home to learn the truth of his situation; Kim follows orders and eats crow (no pun intended); Ben Wade tries to avoid the Fed and learns to avoid officer Samantha De La Croix; Riley gets a phone call from Egan; Jessie ponders the life of a housewife; Lachlan joins his brothers for a few pints; and John receives terrible news from Terry regarding the Aubreys. And you DO NOT want to miss Jack in his shocking new Sidebar!

In The Fly on the Wall Sidebars the all NEW "The Devil to Pay" pt. 8 by Natalie is back. The heartbreaking revenge of a scorned woman tears apart the lives of Jack's family.

The Literary Section now proudly carries the all NEW short story, "Bunko at the 'Y'" by Monique. Another delightful piece by this new writer! It's just another day with the old folks at the "Y", but this story has a neat little surprise ending.

In Literary Longs, the all NEW novel "Spellcheck" chapter 14 by Skip and Riley Final Chapter! The world as the CIA and mafia families know it is saved, but many are affected by the final outcome of the operation designed to repair everything.

Jackie's Literary Long comes to an end with the NEW "Meant to Be" Finale. Taz faces the reality of Quent's life as this story come to an end … and it's not the ending one would expect at all.

And in the Literary Longs section this week, "Whom the Gods Destroy" continues with the next NEW chapter, October 15, 1996 by Michael McLean. The group gathers for Paula's funeral, and Meg's investigation into Katrina Peter's allegations continue.

November 2 Update: Whispers of the Muse

Welcome to this week's update at Whispers of the Muse, http://www.whispersofthemuse.org/

It's November, and we're enjoying rain here in LA! Real rain, the kind that falls hard and long and reminds me of home in Pittsburgh. What a nice change of pace! This week I found myself hankering for a little Terry Thorne and I've begun a NEW Crowe Fanfiction entitled "The Downtime Woman".

On to the update …

In Crowe Fanfiction, the all NEW Terry Thorne story, "The Downtime Woman" pt. 1 by Riley. Terry's hectic life has just offered a reprieve from the craziness, a brief break from the intensity of saving lives and surviving the efforts. A lovely romantic interlude would be perfect … but this one can get a bit more complicated than Terry's bargaining for.

The Bad Ass Bud White is back in Crowe FanFiction Longs. NEW "Havana, 1958" pt. 9 by Riley. Bud and Letti are still finding their way to comfort and adjustment in Los Angeles while Charlie risks it all to help get Letti's brother and sister-in-law out of Cuba.

Ben Wade moves ahead in Another Take this week in the all NEW "What Money Can't Buy" pt. 1 by Riley. As Serena recovers, she struggles with how and when to tell Ben what she knows of his past … without everyone else thinking she's lost her mind.

Cort returns to Another Take with the NEW "The Hallelujah Trail" pt. 1 by Riley. The aftermath of Cort's 'innocent' verdict is not what's expected, but there are several members of Lou Ann's family ready and able to set his heart right.

And Richie Roberts is back in Another Take with the NEW "Counsel for the Defense" pt. 12 by Riley. Miracles happen, especially when and where you least expect them, but as the trial continues, Richie's beginning to wonder what the Feds have up their sleeve that he hasn't thought about.

The 1876 Manor Chronicles continues. Check out the NEW "Timing is Everything", pt. 7 by the Chronicles Collaborative (Natalie, Jessie, Meredith and Riley). Riley prepares the suite for Egan and his son's arrival; Jessie learns about snow as Lachlan, Jeff Mitchell, Kevin and Matt plan their new business; John conspires with Stephen to help Jack cope with his loss; Agent Cooper and Ben Wade get a hot lead in the murder investigation; Kim deals with an empty life as Emily accepts a date from one of the construction workers; and Maximus reaches out to help Natalie. And you DO NOT want to miss Egan in his Sidebar this week!

In The Fly on the Wall Sidebars the all NEW "Finding the Way Together" pt. 2 by Jessie. The first snow of the season has slowed Egan's travel a bit, but every day helps him to create a stronger bond with his son.

And in the Literary Longs section this week, "Whom the Gods Destroy" continues with the next NEW chapter, October 17, 1996. by Michael McLean. The preliminary hearing takes place on Peters' sexual harassment suit against Jem and it holds big surprises for both the plaintiff and the defendant!

November 23 Update: Whispers of the Muse

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to this week's update at Whispers of the Muse, http://www.whispersofthemuse.org/

This week it's a small update. I went home to the east coast over the past ten days and had a blast. Took Natalie with me, and the poor native Californian got a real taste of winter in Pittsburgh. The average temperature the whole time we were there was in the mid to high twenties and we had lots of snow. All kinds of snow … the fat fluffy kind, the horizontal icy kind, even the white out kind that almost didn't let us get to the airport on time for the return flight! But we saw all the sites, visited with friends and family and generally had a great time. I do have to admit though, by the time we were leaving, I was sure ready for a little California heat! Unfortunately, I didn't get a whole lot of writing done, so …

On to the update …

In Crowe Fanfiction, the all NEW Terry Thorne story, "The Downtime Woman" pt. 3 by Riley. Things become complicated as Terry falls deeper and deeper in love with a woman who should only be a passing fancy.

The 1876 Manor Chronicles continues. Check out the NEW "Timing is Everything", pt. 9 by the Chronicles Collaborative (Natalie, Jessie, Meredith and Riley). Kim faces his losses; Agent Cooper sees a new side of himself; Jack Aubrey finds a way to Natalie, thanks to SID; Gerry Kennedy makes a decision that could keep him in Vermont; Egan and his son settle in; Cory White might have just broken the murder case; Lachlan and Jessie prepare for the big day; Colin faces his fears and hopes for the best; and John Biebe kidnaps his wife for a romantic night in the bridal suite.

And also in Literary Longs, "Whom the Gods Destroy" continues with the next NEW chapter, October 19 through 22, 1996. by Michael McLean. The case is winding down and Meg reluctantly recuperates.

December 7 Update: Whispers of the Muse

Hello there,

Welcome to this week's update at Whispers of the Muse, http://www.whispersofthemuse.org/

Well, the holidays are creeping up fast! Real life and an achy back has kept me from my computer a lot lately, but I think I've covered the most important bases.

This week we've got some real fun things happening in The 1876 Manor Chronicles! If you've read any of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse books or seen HBO's TrueBlood directed by Alan Ball, you've been enthralled by the crazy, tongue-in-cheek approach to vampires. Goodness knows I've never liked vampires much and certainly never thought I'd write anything vampire related … but, this week we've brought some of the colorful characters to the Inn! Have a laugh and enjoy! ALSO, doing a little computer housecleaning, I've found two Diaries I wrote back in 2004 that have never been seen or posted anywhere. One Terry Diary and one Bud Diary. We've tucked them into the Oldies section because they follow the history of the Chronicles characters and shed a little light on events to come.

We're still taking a little break from Another Take, but we are all working away. Jessie has a tremendous new long piece coming for the Celestial Series that features Colin O'Brien, and Nat and I are already plotting a really interesting prequel to the Celestial Series as a whole. We think it'll be very interesting.

And now, on to the update …

The Celestial Series Ben Wade returns in the all NEW "The Devil's Boundaries" pt. 2 by Riley. Meet Alex Berkle, the man Lucifer plans to use as his earthbound tool to finally bring Ben Wade into hell.

Also in Crowe Fanfiction Longs, the all NEW Terry Thorne story, "The Downtime Woman" pt. 5 by Riley. Every bit of normalcy is destroyed when Terry learns of Henry's abduction and Tamara learns the truth of his life from everyone but him.

The 1876 Manor Chronicles continues. Check out the NEW "Timing is Everything", pt. 11 by the Chronicles Collaborative (Natalie, Jessie, Meredith and Riley). Boy … Have we got a treat for you all! A little visit from the Vampires of TrueBlood! This week Daisy's life is saved when Roger Fisher picks the wrong night to eliminate her nosiness and bury her where no one will ever find her. Vampire Bill and Eric Northman handle all the formalities long before Sheriff Ben Wade, Samantha, Cory or even Agent Cooper can arrive on the scene.

And finally, two never before posted or seen Diaries featured in the Oldies section.

Terry Thorne in the NEW "Evil Game" by Riley. A lost Diary written back in 2004. Riles and Terry are planning a little trip to Punxutawney to see the groundhog do his thing, but a vicious attack on Riley brings out the hero in Terry, and an awakening in her.

And Bud White in the NEW "Baby's Come a Long Way", by Riley. Also written in 2004, this Diary explores the growth of a sad battered woman into a secure one … all from Bud White's point of view.

All NEW, in Crowe Fanfiction Longs, Captain Jack Aubrey in "Fortuna's Favourite" chapter 2 by Jackie. The thrill of battle and exaltation of winning the prize! The Surprise is again Jack's, but Stephen has a secret he neglects to reveal.

Also in Crowe Fanfiction Longs, the all NEW Terry Thorne story, "The Downtime Woman" pt. 7 by Riley. While Tamara begins her vigil during Dino's surgery, Henry faces his brutal captivity and Terry struggles to keep his head clear … and his heart strong.

The 1876 Manor Chronicles continues with the NEW "The Awakening Breath", pt. 2 by the Chronicles Collaborative (Natalie, Jessie, Meredith and Riley). It's Christmas with the family as couples share private moments, lives are defined, smiles are garnered and secrets revealed … and of course, there's one very surprising ending to this Chronicles. Happy Holidays from the 1876 Manor Inn in Vermont!

In the Literary section, Quentin Finch in back in the NEW "Twist of Fate" chapter 2, by Jackie. While Quentin tries to work through his feelings with video therapy, Taz comes to a stark realization and prepares for her trip to Los Angeles.

AND ... Another Take returns on January 4th with all NEW chapters, plenty of surprises and perhaps a new character or two!

January 4 Update: Whispers of the Muse

Happy 2009 Everyone!

Welcome to this week's update at Whispers of the Muse, http://www.whispersofthemuse.org/

It's an all new year and the Muse has an all NEW member of the Chronicles Collaborative! As you know, the Chronicles Collaborative includes Riley, Natalie, Meredith and Jessie … but this week begins a whole new chapter in the life of the 1876 Manor Chronicles with the addition of Jackie! Her character is introduced this week in her own Chronicles Fly on the Wall Sidebar, "A Change is as Good as a Rest". We're thrilled to have Jackie aboard and the infusion of all new and talented blood to the Chronicles. Join us in welcoming Jackie!

Also, Another Take returns after a short break beginning with Ben Wade and Cort. More to come each week from here on, so watch for your favorite characters as their stories pick up and fly! There may even be a surprise new character or two. And now, on to this week's update …

Ben Wade has purchases a ranch in Arizona … and he needs a partner. Will he make the offer to Cort? And if he does, will Cort even consider it?

The Celestial Series Ben Wade returns in the all NEW "The Devil's Boundaries" pt. 6 by Riley. As Ben and Vivi find their way to each other, so do Lucifer and Master Guardian Terry Thorne.

Also in Crowe Fanfiction Longs, the all NEW Terry Thorne story, "The Downtime Woman" pt. 9 by Riley. Surprises are coming by the bucketful as Terry is taken, Henry is saved, Wilder exposes his secret and Tamara copes with it all.

Riley discovers disturbing news about Carrie and Colin; Ben Wade and Tracy finally admit they're married; Pullo finds a way back to Valerie; Richie decides to stick around Stowe; Kim does some growing up; John works his magic on Riley but it's an email from an old friend, Jackie, that really makes her smile; and Jacob does a little acting up Egan isn't sure he can handle. The introduction of our new Chronicles Collaborative member, Jackie is presented in this week's Chronicle Fly on the Wall Sidebar. All NEW, "A Change is as Good as a Rest" pt. 1 by Jackie. Amsterdam resident, Jackie is in need of a break, a sabbatical that will take her out of the norm and refresh her. Her plan is to hook up with an American friend, Riley … but it's been years.

In the Literary section, Quentin Finch is back in the NEW "Twist of Fate" chapter 4, by Jackie. Ade plays matchmaker in hopes of seeing Quentin and Taz together again. His efforts backfire … or have they?
